¿Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for Nitendo Wii U?
Last week, Vicarious Visions a subsidiary of Activision was linked to the development of games for the Nintendo Wii console and Nintendo Wii U and apparently, Vicarious Visions is the only subsidiary of Activision working on projects for a new console. A job offer in Treyarch, the studio where Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is developed, a software engineer requires high level to join a team whose mission is “bringing the success of a game to a new console.” Last year, Treyarch developer of Call of Duty: Black Ops had sold about 25 million copies in early August.
As for the “new console”, there are a number of possibilities. In 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo, Activision said they are committed to supporting the latest Nintendo console, the Wii U. Beyond that, there are rumors that the next Xbox may be presented at E3 2012 and a source claiming to be present in a “high level” Sony meeting said the PlayStation 4, could be launched within 18 months. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released on November 8 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, DS and Wii. This version has a global stage, players will fight on several continents, in places like London, France, Germany and New York.
The idea that this franchise is being prepared for a new console is exciting, not only makes us think of what new options will be interactive, but also what possibilities these new consoles will bring. In an age where we have Wii Motion, PS3 motion +, and Xbox 360 kinect, what else can we expect? Perhaps holograms? or more “immersive” multi-player? We only have to wait till E3 2012 and see what surprises will it will bring.
